KALAMAZOO, Mich. (AP) -- Peyton Stovall scored 18 points to lead Ball State to a 66-65 win over Western Michigan that ended the nation's second-longest home winning streak at 25.
Western (13-4, 6-1 Mid-American) had not lost at home since Feb. 1, 2003, to Kent State.
Dennis Trammell scored 16 points for Ball State (9-5, 4-2), including what proved to be the winning points with 3:22 left. The Cardinals did not score after that, but held on for their first win over Western in six tries.
Joe Reitz led Western with a career-high 25 points on 9-of-12 shooting.
Western's Ben Reed had a chance to win the game, but his shot bounced off the rim with three seconds left. Reed, averaging 18.3 points per game, missed all nine shots he took and was shut out for the first time since 2002.
Levi Rost added 14 points for Ball State and Darren Yates had 11.
Brian Snider had a game-high eight rebounds, leading Western to a 36-32 advantage on the boards.
Ball State's Terrance Chapman, the conference's second-leading rebounder, left the game with a shoulder injury and did not return.
