CATONSVILLE, Md. (AP) -- Brian Hodges hit a left-side 3-pointer with 1.2 seconds left in regulation, lifting the University of Maryland, Baltimore County past Binghamton 61-59 Saturday night.
John Zito scored 14 points for the Retrievers (8-9, 3-5 America East), who rallied from 10 points down with 6:01 to play to win their second straight conference game for the first time this year.
Andre Heard's 13 points led Binghamton (5-12, 2-6 America East), which fell to 0-8 on the road. The Bearcats have dropped three of four games.
Mike Gordon's 3-point shot gave Binghamton a 57-47 lead with 6:01 left in regulation, but the Bearcats were outscored 14-2 the rest of the way.
Chris Pugh cut the lead to seven with a 3-pointer from the right side and Andrew Feeley hit two free throws. After Heard's layup, Feeley hit two more foul shots, making it 59-54.
Binghamton's Sebastian Hermenier Jr. missed the front end of three one-and-ones over the final 1:31, aiding the UMBC comeback. Feeley knocked down two more free throws with 46.5 seconds left, getting the Retrievers within one.
After Hermenier's third miss, Cory McJimson appeared to put UMBC ahead with a one-handed push shot with 7.7 seconds left. But Retrievers coach Randy Monroe had signaled for a time out just before McJimson's shot.
Given another chance, point guard Rob Gogerty fed Hodges from the top of the key and Hodges' 3-point shot gave UMBC its first lead of the night.
Binghamton hit 10 of its first 12 shots from the field and Heard's 3-pointer from the left corner with 8:43 left in the first half capped a 14-2 run that produced a 23-10 lead.
