YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (AP) -- Steve Gansey's 3-pointer down the stretch gave Cleveland State the lead for good in a 78-77 win over Youngstown State on Saturday night.
Gansey broke a tie at 72 with a 3-pointer with 1:50 left. Youngstown State's Brian Radakovich hit a free throw to cut the lead to two, but Mike Redell added another shot behind the arc for the Vikings (5-10, 2-5 Horizon League).
Quin Humphrey, who had 17 points for Youngstown State (3-15, 1-7), hit a basket and, after a turnover, Derrick Harris hit a jumper with 7 seconds left to cut the lead to a point. But the Penguins never got the ball back.
Omari Westley scored 28 points, Redell had 16 and Gansey 10 for the Vikings, while Radakovich had 19 and Khari McQueen had 15 for the Penguins.
Both teams shot 54 percent from the field.
