DEKALB, Ill. (AP) -- Todd Peterson scored a career-high 31 points, making six 3-pointers Saturday night to lead Northern Illinois to an 87-74 victory over Eastern Michigan.
Peterson was 9-for-12 from the floor overall and made 6-of-9 on his 3-point attempts for the Huskies (7-9, 3-5 Mid-American Conference). His 3-pointer started a 13-3 second-half run that gave the Huskies a nine-point lead after they trailed by three at halftime.
Mike McKinney added 14 points and had 10 rebounds for Northern Illinois, while James Hughes had 12 points and nine rebounds.
John Bowler had 12 points and 10 rebounds to lead Eastern Michigan (9-8, 3-5).
Northern Illinois shot 54 percent for the game.
