CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- Kyle Hines and Ricky Hickman each scored 15 points to lead North Carolina-Greensboro to a 78-68 victory over The Citadel on Saturday afternoon.
Ahead 69-67, the Spartans (12-5, 5-1 Southern Conference) forced three turnovers and five fouls in the final minutes, hitting 10 free throws to seal the win.
Donny McLendon scored 21 points to the lead the Bulldogs (11-5, 3-3), who lost for the first time at home in nine games dating back to last season's final game. Warren McLendon, Donny's brother, added 17 points.
The Spartans overcame a 10-point second half deficit. Ronnie Burrell's layup capped a 10-point run that got North Carolina-Greensboro back in the game. Burrell finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
J'mel Everhart had seven points and 10 rebounds for The Citadel.
