ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) -- Steven Thomas scored 31 points, including the go-ahead basket with 46 seconds left in overtime, as Texas-Arlington beat Louisiana-Monroe 80-76 Saturday.
Texas-Arlington (8-8, 3-3 Southland Conference) hit 4-of-5 field goals as it outscored Louisiana-Monroe (6-10, 0-5) 11-7 in overtime.
Thomas' layup gave the Mavericks a 77-76 lead, and the Indians could not respond.
Louisiana-Monroe, who lost its sixth straight, sent the game into overtime on Daryl Mason's three-point play with 1:16 remaining in regulation.
Cecil Hood scored 19 points and Mason added 17 points and nine rebounds for the Indians.
Louisiana-Monroe jumped out to a 10-1 lead early and had an 11-point lead in the first half. Texas-Arlington cut the deficit to 35-31 at halftime.
The Mavericks surged ahead 59-51 with 7:36 left. But they missed four free throws and went without a field goal in the last three minutes.
