OXFORD, Ohio (AP) -- Chet Mason's layup with 27 seconds left gave Miami of Ohio a 59-57 victory over Ohio on Saturday night.
Mason finished with a career-high 22 points, and William Hatcher had 13 for Miami (10-5, 5-2 Mid-American Conference).
Mychal Green led Ohio (8-7, 3-4) with 19 points. Leon Williams and Jeremy Fears added 10 apiece.
Ohio broke a 28-all halftime tie with a pair of free throws by Williams and a basket by Fears to start the second half. But then Miami went on a 23-2 run and appeared to be in control.
Ohio pared that lead in the closing minutes, tying the game at 57 on a pair of free throws by Sonny Troutman with 57 second left. Mason's layup gave Miami the lead, and Green missed two 3-point attempts in the closing seconds.
Mason's 22 points gave him 3,380 at Miami, seventh best on the RedHawks all-time list.
