SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- Jerome Gumbs scored a career high 27 points as the San Francisco Dons defeated the Portland Pilots in overtime Saturday.
Gumbs also had 11 rebounds and was the leading scorer for San Francisco. Gumb's previous career best was 22 points against Portland on February 14. Tyrone Riley scored nine of his 17 points in overtime and John Cox added 10 points.
San Francisco (12-6) is 10-0 at home. The Dons have won four straight, including a thrilling win against No. 11 Gonzaga on Thursday.
Portland (13-8) has lost its last five road games. Pooh Jeter led the Pilots with 20 points, 17 of those in the second half.
Portland is just 5-24 at San Francisco. The last time the Pilots defeated the Dons on the road was during the 2000-01 season.
Jeter's jumper near the baseline gave Portland a three point lead with 37 seconds to go. Tyrone Riley nailed a 3-pointer to tie the game at 61-61 with 21 seconds remaining. Jason Gaines stole the ball to force a fast-break but time expired, forcing overtime.
Tied 63-63 in overtime, Riley's jumper with 3:17 left gave San Francisco a two point lead.
Gumbs was fouled and made one free throw with 2:23 to play. Riley then made two more at the line for a five point lead with 90 seconds to go. Riley then made a hook shot in the paint for a 70-63 lead with 1:11 to go in the extra session. A free throw by Gaines helped San Francisco outscore Portland 10-2 in overtime to seal the win.
