EL PASO, Texas (AP) -- Jason Williams scored 25 points to lead Texas-El Paso to a 69-65 victory over San Jose State on Saturday night.
UTEP's victory extended its home winning streak in Western Athletic Conference games to 12. The Miners (16-3, 6-1) got 24 points from their bench while San Jose State (4-12, 1-6) mustered only two.
Williams was 10-of-15 from the floor, hit four 3-pointers and grabbed eight rebounds. Stanley Branch added 14 points for UTEP.
Marquin Chandler led the Spartans with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Kareem Guilbeaux scored all of his 15 points on 3-pointers.
San Jose State has lost 10 of its last 11.
The win helped UTEP remain a half game behind first-place Nevada in the WAC standings.
