AMHERST, Mass. (AP) -- Pat Carroll scored 19 points, including five 3-pointers, to lead Saint Joseph's over Massachusetts 73-54 on Saturday.
Carroll scored 13 as Saint Joseph's (8-7, 5-1 Atlantic 10) built a 36-25 first half lead.
Saint Joseph's built the lead to as much as 20 points in the second half, and UMass never came closer than 13.
Bob Ferguson scored 14 points for Saint Joseph's. Dwayne Lee had 13 and Dwayne Jones scored 11.
UMass (9-7, 3-3) was led by Anthony Anderson with 16 points. Maurice Maxwell added 14.
Rashaun Freeman, who scored 26 points in the Minutemen's win over Fordham on Wednesday and 27 points in an overtime win against then-ranked George Washington last week, was held to four points on 2-of-7 shooting.
After the game's the first basket, Carroll hit back-to-back 3-pointers to give Saint Joseph's the lead for the rest of the game.
UMass closed to within one point at 23-22 with 5:02 left in the half, but the Hawks then made nine of the next 10 points to stretch their margin to 32-23.
