CULLOWHEE, N.C. (AP) -- Trey Hopkins and Lunzaya Nlandu each had career-high scoring efforts Saturday to lift Western Carolina past Wofford 80-75.
Hopkins and Antonio Russell each scored a game-high 17 points for the Catamounts (6-14, 1-6 Southern Conference), who snapped an eight-game losing streak. Nlandu added 14 points on 6-for-6 shooting.
Eric Marshall and Greg Taylor each scored 14 points to lead the Terriers (8-9, 1-5).
Western Carolina led 42-29 at halftime and pushed the margin to 17 points before Wofford rallied, twice cutting the deficit to two points in the final six minutes.
Byron Fields hit two free throws and Adrien Borders added a layup to cut the deficit to 67-65 with 5:54 left. But Russell answered with a 3-pointer and Nlandu added a three-point play to help the Catamounts push the lead back to eight.
Wofford again cut it to two, 76-74, with about a minute left. But Hopkins hit two free throws with 47 seconds left, and Russell added another from the line to keep Western Carolina in front.
Western Carolina shot 55 percent from the floor and went 9-for-18 from behind the arc.
