WICHITA, Kan. (AP) Jamar Howard had a career-tying 27 points and pulled down a career-high 13 rebounds to lead Wichita State past Drake 76-65 Wednesday night.
Howard also had four assists and three blocks for the Shockers (15-2, 8-1 Missouri Valley Conference), who won their fourth straight. Kyle Wilson added 13 points for Wichita State, while Sean Ogirri had 10 points and five assists.
Lonnie Randolph led the Bulldogs (6-11, 2-7) with 19 points, including four 3s. Pete Eggers chipped in 12 points for Drake, Klayton Korver had 11, and Aliou Keita pulled down 13 rebounds.
Drake had a 36-35 lead at halftime, and the game was close late into the second half. The Shockers led by just one point at 62-61 with 3:08 to play but finished the game on a 14-4 run, capped by two straight dunks from Howard, to get the win.
The Shockers shot 65 percent (15-of-23) in the second half while holding the Bulldogs to 33 percent (7-of-21).
Wichita State took a 30-19 lead early in the game, but the Bulldogs responded with a 17-5 run, including eight straight points from Randolph, to end the first half.
