FAIRFAX, Va. -- Tony Skinn scored 18 points, and George Mason's bench combined for 35 to lead the Patriots to a 94-68 win over Hofstra on Wednesday night.
Coach Jim Larranaga's trademark five-man reserve "Green Team" entered the game at the first media timeout to help start a 19-4 run and build a 45-29 halftime lead for George Mason (9-8, 4-4 Colonial Athletic Association).
It's the second straight game the Patriots have gotten significant contributions from their bench, which scored 43 points against James Madison.
Antonie Aguido scored 20 points and made four 3-pointers for Hofstra (11-6, 3-5), including one with 14:38 left to cut George Mason's lead to 11. However, the Patriots reserves sparked another burst that put them back ahead by 21 with 9:57 to play.
Loren Stokes added 13 points and seven rebounds for the Pride.
John Vaughan scored a career-high 16 points and Lamar Butler had 14 for the Patriots, who hit 14 of 20 3-pointers and shot 54 percent from the floor in the game. Vaughan, Skinn and Tim Burns all hit at least two 3-pointers in the first half and George Mason made 12 of its first 16 shots.
