OLEAN, N.Y. (AP) Maurice Maxwell hit two free throws in double overtime to help Massachusetts seal a 82-78 win over St. Bonaventure Wednesday.
Rashaun Freeman hit the game-winning shot with 27.8 seconds left and had five of the Minutemen's seven points in the first overtime. He finished with 18 points and Maxwell had 20.
Wade Dunston led St. Bonaventure (1-16, 0-5 Atlantic 10), scoring seven of his 28 points in the second overtime.
Trailing 36-26 at halftime, the Minutemen (10-7, 4-3) went on a 17-5 run to pull ahead 43-41 with 13:11 left in regulation. The teams tied the score eight times, and Dunston hit a 3-pointer with 10.5 seconds left in regulation to force overtime.
The win marks the first time the Minutemen have rallied from a 10-point halftime deficit to win since Jan. 6, 2001.
Stephane Lasme scored 18 points and had 10 rebounds for Massachusetts.
For the Bonnies, Ahmad Smith scored 21 points, pulled down seven rebounds and had eight assists.
