ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) Steven Thomas scored 18 of his 24 points in the second half to lead Texas-Arlington past Stephen F. Austin 62-55 on Wednesday night.
Thomas, who leads the Southland Conference in scoring at 19.4 points per game, was 9-of-16 from the floor and also grabbed 11 rebounds. Rodrick Epps added 11 for the Mavericks (9-8, 4-3).
Hank Rivers led Stephen F. Austin (9-8, 3-3) with 15 points and 11 rebounds. But his team shot a season-low 31 percent from the floor, including 21 percent from behind the arc.
Anthony Paez and Josh Porter added 13 each for the Lumberjacks.
It was the fewest points allowed by Texas-Arlington this season.
The victory moved Mavericks coach Eddie McCarter into second place on the Southland Conference's all-time wins list with 160. Louisiana-Monroe coach Mike Bining is in first with 380 wins.
