GREENVILLE, N.C. (AP) Corey Rouse had 13 points and 13 rebounds as East Carolina beat Saint Louis 60-53 for its first Conference USA win of the season Wednesday.
The victory snapped a six-game losing streak for the Pirates (6-13, 1-6).
Mike Cook led the East Carolina with 15 points. And Rouse got his seventh double-double of the year despite being limited to eight minutes in the first half due to foul trouble.
Josh King came off the bench to score 11 points on 3-of-6 shooting from behind the 3-point line.
East Carolina scored the first basket, but then Saint Louis (5-13, 3-3) scored 10 of the next 12 points and led the rest of the first half, taking a 33-28 lead at the intermission.
Consecutive baskets by Rouse to start the second half pulled East Carolina within a point. Moussa Badiane gave the Pirates the lead for good on a layup just 61 seconds into the second half.
Badiane finished the game with eight points and blocked three shots to move within one of the Conference USA career blocks record.
After allowing Saint Louis to shoot more 56 percent from the field in the first half, East Carolina held the Billikens to just 23.1 percent shooting (6-of-26) after halftime.
Izik Ohanon led the Billikens with 20 points. Reggie Bryant was the only other Billiken to reach double figures with 15 points.
