DAVIDSON, N.C. (AP) -- Brendan Winters scored 24 points as Davidson broke out early to beat The Citadel 81-59 Saturday in the Southern Conference.
Davidson (13-7, 9-0 Southern) led all the way and ran to a 43-22 lead at halftime. The Wildcats shot 48 percent from the field and held the Bulldogs (12-6, 4-4) to making just 9 of 27 shots in the period.
Davidson outscored The Citadel in the paint, 32-16, and notched 21 points off turnovers.
Jason Morton had 13 points for Davidson and Logan Kosmalski added 12.
The Citadel got 15 points from Kevin Hammack and 11 points each from Warren McLendon and Matt Davis.
The Citadel has not won a game at Davidson since 1990 and coach Pat Dennis is 0-8 in games there.
