NEW YORK -- Matt Preston scored 18 points and Mack Montgomery added 13, leading Columbia to a 64-45 victory over Dartmouth on Saturday.
Preston and Montgomery keyed a 19-2 run that bridged the first and second half for Columbia (11-5, 2-1 Ivy League), which has won four of its last five.
Dartmouth (4-12, 1-2) held a 24-14 lead with 5:08 remaining in the opening half when Preston hit two free throws to start the run. Montgomery hit a 3-pointer in the final minute to cut the halftime edge to 26-22.
Columbia scored the first 11 points of the second half to take a 33-26 lead. Preston scored five and Montgomery four in the outburst. The Lions outscored the Big Green 42-19 in the second half.
David Gardner scored eight points to lead Dartmouth, which lost for the ninth time in 10 games. Gardner, slowed by the flu, did not start for the first time this season but played 21 minutes.
