CHARLESTON, S.C. -- Tony Mitchell scored 19 of his game-high 24 points in the final 20 minutes as the College of Charleston overcame a 16-point second-half deficit to beat Georgia Southern 71-64 on Saturday.
Mitchell also added 10 rebounds to get his first career double, while Josh Jackson added 12 points for the Cougars (13-6, 6-3 Southern Conference).
Elton Nesbitt led the Eagles (12-8, 6-3) with 15 points, while Donte Gennie added 13 points and Louis Graham pulled down 10 rebounds.
Charleston trailed 49-35 with just under 13 minutes to go when Mitchell hit back-to-back 3-pointers to spark a 10-0 run.
The Cougars took their first lead of the game at 55-54 on Mitchell's reverse layup with just under six minutes remaining.
Georgia Southern took back the lead on Jean Francois' jumper, and the teams would go back-and-forth for the next three minutes.
Charleston took the lead for good at 61-59 on Stanley Jackson's dunk, which was quickly followed by Mitchell's fifth and final 3 of the game.
The loss snaps the Eagles six-game winning streak and puts the teams in a tie for second place in the SoCon's South Division.
