DELAND, Fla. (AP) Anthony Register scored 18 points to lead Stetson to a 69-62 victory over Atlantic Sun Conference leader Gardner-Webb Saturday night.
Borislav Djordjic added 12 points and eight rebounds for Stetson (8-11, 6-6). Will Holloman chipped in nine points and nine rebounds, and J.J. Hirst came off the bench to score 10 points.
Gardner-Webb's Chris Gash led all scorers with 20 points, while Simon Conn added 15 points and Josh Chiles had 12 points. The Bulldogs slipped to 11-7, but remain in first place with an 8-3 mark.
The Hatters trailed by one point, 39-38, when head coach Derek Waugh was called for his second technical foul at 13:32. Gardner-Webb's Brian Bender made the technical free throws and Conn made two from another foul to make it a 43-38 Bulldog advantage.
But the technical foul fired up the Hatters, who took a 46-45 lead on a 3-pointer by Karl Hollingsworth at 11:32.
The teams traded the lead four times with Stetson going up 53-52 on a layup by Hirst with 8:46 to play. The Hatters built their largest lead, 62-54, at 1:39 with the help of a 3-point play by Gabe McMillen and two layups by E.J. Gordon.
