TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- Brandon Temple scored 25 points to lead Missouri-Kansas City to an 88-74 victory over Oral Roberts Saturday night.
Temple, a 6-foot-1 senior guard with a 14.3 scoring average, was 5-of-8 on 3-pointers. Carlton Aaron added 19 points and eight rebounds before fouling out with 3:54 left for the Kangaroos (10-7, 8-0 Mid-Continent Conference).
UMKC, which has won 10 in a row after losing their first seven, snapped ORU's 11-game home winning streak. Ken Tutt paced the Golden Eagles (15-5, 6-2) with 24 points and Caleb Green scored 13.
The Kangaroos, who led 37-31 at halftime, built their advantage to 42-33 before ORU countered with an 8-0 run that included two treys by Tutt and a Larry Owens dunk that made it 42-41.
After the teams exchanged free throws, Temple drilled consecutive treys for a 49-42 lead. UMKC increased its advantage to 58-49, but Tutt scored three consecutive baskets to cut ORU's deficit to 58-55.
Aaron, a 39 percent foul shooter, made 6-of-6 free throws over the next two minutes to make it 64-58.
UMKC's lead was at 73-63 with 5:58 left before Green scored six in a row to cap a 7-0 run that reduced the Kangaroos' lead to 73-70 with 3:54 remaining. On ORU's next possession, Luke Spencer-Gardner narrowly missed a 3-pointer and the Golden Eagles never again had a chance to tie the game.
UMKC led 80-74 with 1:02 left before scoring the final eight points.
