HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP) -- Joe Thompson scored 23 points and Chris Jordan added 16 as Sam Houston State beat Northwestern State 77-65 Saturday night.
Sam Houston State (11-8, 5-2 Southland Conference) led by as many as 26 in the first half and had a 42-25 advantage at halftime.
Tramaine Hancock scored 11 points and Keenan Jones had 10 for Northwestern State (11-10, 5-2).
The Bearkats, who won their ninth straight home game, controlled the game from the start. They led throughout and Thompson's three-point play gave the Bearkats a 38-12 cushion with 3:36 remaining.
Ryan Bright had 13 points and six rebounds for Sam Houston State.
