CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP) -- Reggie Golson scored five of his 20 points in overtime, leading Southeast Missouri State to a 72-65 victory over Samford on Saturday night.
The Redhawks (9-10, 4-4 Ohio Valley Conference) blew a 12-point lead in the second half and needed Derek Winans' basket with 34 seconds left to tie the score at 60 and force overtime.
Samford (11-8, 6-2) had a chance to win at the buzzer in regulation, but Jon Mills' 3-point try spun out. The Bulldogs didn't score from the field after the 4:19 mark in overtime.
Terrick Willoughby had 16 points for Southeast Missouri State, which won its third straight conference game. Dainmon Gonner added 14 points, and Winans and Ryan Belcher finished with 11 each.
Golson, Willoughby and Gonner accounted for 20 of the Redhawks' 26 rebounds.
J. Robert Merritt led Samford with four 3-pointers _ all in the second half _ and 20 points. Randall Gulina added 15 points in his first game since he injured his ankle Jan. 4, and Jerry Smith had 12 for the Bulldogs.
Southeast Missouri State led 36-27 at the half.
