RICHMOND, Ky. -- Matt Witt scored 27 points and added 11 assists as Eastern Kentucky beat Tennessee-Martin 95-71 on Saturday.
The Colonels (13-6, 5-3 Ohio Valley Conference), connected on a season-high 12 3-pointers and shot 59 percent from the field, sending the Skyhawks (4-15, 1-7) to their fifth straight loss.
Witt was 9-of-13 from the field and hit 4-of-7 3-pointers. Zach Ingles followed Witt with 15 points, while Ben Rushing came off the bench and added 14 points.
The Colonels shot 61 percent from the field in the first half and knocked down 10-of-17 shots from 3-point range.
Witt scored eight of Eastern's first 10 points as the Colonels raced out to a 10-2 lead. Martin pulled to within one at 16-15 at the 12:34 mark of the first half, but the Colonels went on a 26-12 run that pushed the margin to 42-27 with 5:44 remaining in the half. Eastern connected on five 3-pointers during the run.
The Colonels led by as many as 30 points in the second half, while Martin could get no closer than 16.
Jared Newson had 20 points and 10 rebounds and Cleve Woodfork added 15 to lead the Skyhawks.
