PRINCETON, N.J. (AP) -- Mike Stephens scored a career-high 23 points _ including 15 in the second half _ to lead Princeton to a 58-43 victory over Yale on Saturday.
Stephens scored 11 straight points once the Tigers (10-6, 1-1 in the Ivy League) took the lead for good in the second half. Will Venable added 11 points and six rebounds.
Yale (4-11, 0-2) played well in the first half and Eric Flato's fadeaway 3-pointer at the buzzer gave them a 26-24 halftime lead. However, Yale struggled from the floor after intermission, including a four-minute stretch without a field goal, and the Tigers were perfect at the foul line in the closing minutes to put the game on ice.
Edwin Draughan led Yale with 12 points and seven rebounds.
