MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) -- Richard Roby scored 22 points and Marcus Hall had 17 to lead Colorado to a 70-60 win over Kansas State Saturday afternoon.
The Buffaloes led 58-49 with 4:07 to go, but Kansas State (13-6, 3-5 Big 12) clawed to within 61-56 on an inside bucket by Jeremiah Massey with 2:51 remaining.
That was all the closer Kansas State got, though, as the Wildcats' poor second-half shooting continued in the game's waning moments and Colorado took advantage at the free throw line.
Chris Copeland added 13 points and 10 rebounds for Colorado (11-9, 3-6), which had lost six of its last eight.
Lance Harris scored 13 of his 18 points in the first half to lead Kansas State, which shot just 25 percent (10-of-40) in the second half.
Massey added 17 points and eight rebounds for Kansas State. Fred Peete had 11 points and five assists.
Tyler Hughes scored nine early points to help Kansas State to a 17-9 lead midway through the first half, and a Harris 3-pointer gave the Wildcats their biggest lead at 24-14.
But the duo of Roby and Hall answered back, combining for 25 of Colorado's 34 first-half points. Hall's running jumpshot as time expired knotted the game at intermission.
But Colorado took advantage of Kansas State's anemic second-half offense, which included a scoreless drought of nearly six minutes that allowed Colorado to build a 55-46 lead with just under six minutes remaining.
