CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) -- Chris Chalko scored 20 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as Elon beat Chattanooga 62-59 on Saturday.
Chattanooga (13-7, 6-4 Southern Conference) had a chance with 16 seconds left. Down 60-55, Alphonso Pugh, who finished with 15 points, hit a 3-pointer, then Jerice Crouch hit one of two free throws to make it 60-59.
But Scottie Rice made two free throws to secure the win for Elon (4-19, 2-8).
Elon led by as many as seven points, 16-9, with 9:07 remaining in the first half, and held a 25-24 lead at the half.
Elon took the lead for good on Chalko's 3-pointer with 10:38 to play, which made it 38-35.
Chattanooga shot 30.8 percent from the field, compared with Elon's 36.5 percent.
The Mocs were led by Mindaugas Katelynas' 18 points and 13 rebounds.
The loss was Chattanooga's third straight. Elon won its second in a row.
