BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) -- David Dees scored 14 of his 19 points in the second half to help lead Liberty to a 73-69 victory over Birmingham-Southern on Saturday.
Liberty trailed by more than 9 points in the second half until a 3-pointer by Dees pulled the team within 2, 60-58, with 3:52 left. Seconds later, Liberty took its first lead since early in the first half on a pair of Dees free throws.
The teams swapped leads once more before another 3 by Dees put Liberty ahead for good.
Larry Blair scored 15 points and Leo Lightbourne added 12 points and seven rebounds for Liberty (9-12, 7-3 Big South Conference), which shot 58.3 percent.
Jakob Sigurdarson shot nine of 19 from the field and was perfect in seven free throw attempts for a game-high 29 points for Birmingham-Southern (11-10, 4-5), which blew a 27-23 halftime lead. Thomas Viglianco added 15 points.
