STONY BROOK, N.Y. (AP) -- Mike Popoko's two free throws with 7.6 seconds left lifted Stony Brook past Maryland-Baltimore County 42-40 Saturday, ending a five-game losing streak.
Popoko and Bobby Santiago each scored 11 points for the Seawolves (8-13, 3-9 America East).
Brian Hodges scored seven points to lead the Retrievers (9-12, 4-8), who lost their third straight game.
The teams were tied 21-21 at halftime.
Mike Housma's jumper with 1:09 to play pulled UMBC into a 40-all tie before Popoko's winning shots from the foul line.
