BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) -- Taylor Coppenrath scored 27 points and had 10 rebounds to lead Vermont over Northeastern 72-64 Saturday.
Vermont (17-3, 12-0 America East) trailed 36-34 at the half, but outscored Northeastern 18-8 in the game's last eight minutes, hitting 6 of 12 3s in the second after going just 2-for-10 in the first.
Jose Juan Berea had a game-high 28 points for Northeastern (13-8, 9-3), putting the Huskies ahead 11-9 four minutes into the first with a layup. Northeastern opened a 20-11 lead with 13 minutes left in the first before Vermont, winners of 14 straight, began whittling the deficit.
T.J. Sorrentine had 14 points, including two 3s for Vermont, claiming the Catamount's career 3-point record with 306. Germain Mopa Njila added 10 points, eight in the second, and had a game-high 12 rebounds.
