DENTON, Texas (AP) -- Leonard Hopkins scored 24 points and Jeffrey Simpson added 18 as North Texas defeated New Mexico State 79-67 Saturday night.
North Texas (11-9, 4-5 Sun Belt Conference) jumped out to a 21-point lead in the first half.
The Mean Green had a 30-9 lead in the first half before the Aggies, who never led, fought within 33-23 at halftime.
New Mexico State (5-17, 1-8) lost its fourth straight game. Mike Mitchell had 14 points for the Aggies, and Jeff Jones and Jalen Dominguez each added 12.
North Texas kept its double-digit lead by shooting 52 percent from the field after halftime.
Calvin Watson added 15 points and Issac Hines chipped in with 10 for the Mean Green.
