AMHERST, Mass. (AP) -- Anthony Anderson had 15 points and Rashaun Freeman scored 14 to lead Massachusetts to a 74-58 victory over St. Bonaventure on Saturday.
UMass (11-8, 5-4 Atlantic 10) never trailed. Leading 40-26 at halftime, the Minutemen put together an 11-minute, 22-5 run that gave them a 64-36 lead with about eight minutes remaining.
Maurice Maxwell added 10 points, was the other double-figure scorer for UMass. The Minutemen shot 51.7 from the field and had a 41-30 rebounding advantage, with Stephane Lasme, Freeman and Anderson collecting nine boards each. Chris Chadwick added eight assists.
Ahmad Smith led St. Bonaventure (1-19, 0-9 Atlantic 10) with 16 points. Kern Carter and Brian Gibbs each added 11 points. The Bonnies shot just 36.1 percent from the field.
UMass dominated from start, taking a quick 9-1 lead which it then extended to 21-8.
The win was the first season sweep of a, A-10 opponent for UMass since the Minutemen took two from Rhode Island and George Washington in the 2000-2001 season.
