JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (AP) -- Nathan Cranford scored a career-high 23 points to lead Appalachian State to a 95-73 victory Wednesday night over East Tennessee State.
The contest was rescheduled from Jan. 29 due to winter weather conditions.
The Mountaineers (12-9, 6-5 Southern Conference) never trailed in the game, bolting out to a 10-0 advantage and leading 43-35 at halftime.
D.J. Thompson and Noah Brown both scored 15 points for Appalachian State, while Demetrius Scott and Herbert Jones had 12 each. Clint Deas grabbed 12 rebounds.
Travis Strong led the Buccaneers (6-16, 2-10) with 21 points, and James Anthony had 20.
Appalachian State shot 53.4 percent from the field to 40.6 percent for ETSU.
Strong hit two 3-pointers during an 8-2 run midway through the first half to pull ETSU within 26-21, but the Buccaneers would never get any closer.
The Mountaineers quickly took a double-digit lead to open the second half, and led by as many as 26 points twice in the final 20 minutes.
The loss was the worst at home for ETSU since an 86-53 setback to Michigan State in December 1998.
The win was the largest margin of victory for Appalachian State at ETSU since the 1940-41 season.
