TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) -- Sammy Villegas had 11 points to lead Toledo to a 58-50 win over Bowling Green on Wednesday night.
Villegas hit a 3-pointer and another jumper during a 12-2 Toledo run, giving the Rockets (11-10, 7-5 Mid American Conference) a 26-13 lead with 7:55 to play in the first half. Toledo led 34-23 at halftime and never trailed during the second half.
Bowling Green closed to within 34-31 by scoring the first eight points in the second half, but couldn't get any closer while hitting only 8-of-27 field goals and 1-of-11 free throws.
Both teams shot below 40 percent from the floor for the game.
Steven Wright had 23 points and eight rebounds for Bowling Green (13-7, 7-5), while John Reimold scored 11 for the Falcons.
The Rockets scored 23 points off 21 Falcon turnovers while committing 14 turnovers themselves.
