SAN DIEGO (AP) -- Floyd North scored 16 points and coach Brad Holland became San Diego's career victory leader in a 69-61 win over San Francisco on Wednesday night.
San Diego (13-10, 5-5 West Coast) won despite missing their first 11 field goal attempts in the second half as it went more than 11 minutes before scoring a field goal. The Toreros, who shot only 21 percent (4-for-19) in the second half, didn't score their first basket until a drive by Brandon Gay with 8:45 remaining to increase their lead to 54-49.
Holland, whose raised his career record at San Diego to 161-147, moved past Jim Brovelli into first place for the most wins in school history. Holland, who also coached two seasons at Cal State Fullerton, has a career record of 184-178.
Brandon Gay and Brice Vounang scored 14 points each for San Diego, which made 25 of 31 free throws, including 18 of 22 in the second half.
San Francisco (13-10, 4-6), which trailed 43-33 at halftime, failed to take advantage of the Toreros' cold second-half shooting as the Dons made only 9 of 32 field goal attempts in the second half.
The Dons, who ran their season-high losing streak to four games, were led by Tyrone Riley's 19 points.
