ITTA BENA, Miss. (AP) -- Hosea Butler had 26 points and Mississippi Valley State shot nearly 46 percent in an 81-42 rout of Alcorn State on Saturday night.
Timothy Latiker and Kelvin McCoy each had 12 points for the Delta Devils (9-12, 7-5 Southwestern Athletic Conference), who snapped a three-game losing streak.
MVSU used its defense to take a 15-point halftime lead, holding slumping Alcorn State to 5-of-22 shooting in building a 31-16 lead at the break.
Then, the Delta Devils turned up the offense, shooting 55 percent in the second half and scoring 50 points in the final 20 minutes.
Jessie Taylor added 10 points off the bench for MVSU, which was 10-of-19 from 3-point range.
Alcorn State didn't have a player in double figures in losing its third straight and sixth of seven. Delvin Thompson had nine points on 4-of-13 shooting to lead the Braves.
