ROCK HILL, S.C. (AP) -- James Shuler scored 17 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead Winthrop to a 55-41 victory over Birmingham-Southern on Saturday night.
The Eagles (20-5, 11-1 Big South Conference) extended their winning streak to 11 games and improved to 12-0 at home. The Eagles have won four games in the past six days.
Winthrop pulled away from a 16-15 lead in the first half and led by as many as 19 points with 14:30 left in the game. Birmingham-Southern (12-11, 5-7) entered the game leading the conference in field goal percentage hitting 47 percent, but were held to just 22.5 percent, making just 9 of 40 shots.
Winthrop wasn't much better, hitting 33 percent from the field.
Jakob Sigurdarson led Birmingham Southern with 16 points, 11 of which came from the foul line.
