HIGH POINT, N.C. (AP) -- Jerry Echenique scored 20 points Saturday to lead High Point past Coastal Carolina 79-72.
Akeem Scott added 12 points for the Panthers (11-14, 6-6 Big South Conference), who shot 57 percent after the break. Arizona Reid posted career-highs of 11 points and 12 rebounds to help High Point snap a four-game losing streak.
High Point took a 50-38 rebounding advantage and scored 50 points in the paint, helping it build on a 35-33 halftime lead.
Jack Leasure scored 23 points to lead the Chanticleers (9-15, 6-6).
Coastal Carolina led 50-47 with 16 minutes left, and the teams were tied a few minutes later before the Panthers went ahead for good on a tip-in by Issa Konare with 11:28 left.
