TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) -- David Moss had 24 points including 12 of 14 free throws to lead Indiana State to a season-high tally as the Sycamores beat Evansville 81-67 Saturday.
All five Indiana State starters scored in double figures, but the big difference came at the free-throw line as the Sycamores (9-16, 4-10 Missouri Valley Conference) went 28-of-35 while the Purple Aces managed just 8-of-11.
Moss was backed up by Gabriel Moore with 14 points and seven assists. Amani Daanish skirted a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds while Jerod Adler had 11 points and six rebounds, and Eric Gray contributed 12 points and five assists.
Matt Webster led Evansville (10-12, 4-10) with 14 points, followed by Bradley Strickland with 12. Lucious Wagner added 11 points and seven assists.
Evansville led by as many as seven before the break and held a 30-26 edge with 2:40 left in the half, but Indiana State closed out the period with a 16-3 run to take a 36-30 lead into the locker room.
Evansville tied the game again at 39-39, but the Sycamores went on a 12-2 run ti take a 51-41 lead and Evansville got no closer than seven after that.
