LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) -- Shawn Hawkins had 15 points and eight rebounds and Jibril Hodges scored 14 points as Long Beach State defeated Cal State Fullerton 66-63 Saturday.
After dropping 11 of their previous 12 games, Long Beach State has won two in a row for the first time since January 2004 and also snapped Fullerton's five-game winning streak.
Kevin Houston and Cody Pearson each had 12 points for Long Beach State (5-18, 3-10 Big West Conference).
Trailing 44-36 with 14:46 remaining, the 49ers went on a 13-4 run to take a 49-48 lead with 9:34 left.
Cal State Fullerton (13-8, 7-5) recaptured the lead, 60-59, on Jermaine Harper's 4-point play with 1:50 remaining in the game.
Long Beach State then scored seven straight points to build a 66-60 lead with 23.6 seconds left.
Yaphett King made it 66-63 as he hit a 3-pointer with 16.7 left.
The Titans got the ball back after Anthony Coleman missed two free throws but Bobby Brown's 3-pointer was off the mark.
Cal State Fullerton stole the inbounds pass but King missed the front end of a one-and-one free throw and Coleman rebounded King's miss to secure the victory for Long Beach State.
King scored 15 points and pulled down 11 rebounds for the Titans. Brown added 14 points and Ralphie Holmes scored 13 points and had nine rebounds.
