VALPARAISO, Ind. (AP) -- James Booyer grabbed 12 rebounds and helped IUPUI take the lead for good as the Jaguars beat Valparaiso 63-57 Saturday.
Brandon Cole scored 20 points to lead IUPUI (13-10, 7-5 Mid-Con Conference). Maushae Byles added 14 and Johnny Miller 10 for the Jaguars.
The score was tied at 26-26 with 15:42 left in the game when Booyer hit a layup to give IUPUI a two-point lead. After two scoreless minutes for both teams, Booyer followed with a 3-pointer to make it 31-26 and the Jaguars never looked back.
IUPUI led 21-18 at the break as the Jaguars shot just 32.1 percent for the half and 39.2 percent for the game. The Crusaders (12-12, 8-4) shot a dismal 25 percent in the first half and managed just 32.7 percent for the game.
Ron Howard led Valparaiso with 22 points. Seth Colclasure added 12 and Jimmie Miles 10 for the Crusaders.
The game featured four ties and seven lead changes before IUPUI took the lead for good.
