ATHENS, Ohio (AP) -- Mychal Green made a layup and two free throws in the final 25 seconds Saturday, helping Ohio hold on for a 61-57 victory that ended Miami of Ohio's seven-game winning streak.
Ohio (13-8, 8-5 Mid-American Conference) led by as many as seven points in a close second half. Green, who leads Ohio in scoring but was shut out in the first half, made two free throws that put the Bobcats up 42-35 with 14:20 left.
Miami (15-6, 10-3) went on a nine-point run to take its final lead, 44-42, on William Hatcher's layup with 11:24 to go. Ohio responded with an eight-point run, and never trailed again.
The RedHawks got within a point three times. Miami's Chet Mason missed a layup with 55 seconds left and Ohio up 57-56. Green's layup with 25 seconds to go made it a three-point lead.
Doug Penno missed the second of his two free throws with 7 seconds left, and Green got the rebound and was fouled. He made both of his free throws to seal it.
Both scoring leaders struggled. Mason, who averages 15.8 points per game, was held to seven points on 3-of-11 shooting. Penno led Miami with 15.
Green went 2-of-10 from the field and scored eight points, well below his average of 15.3. Leon Williams led Ohio with 16 points.
The Bobcats improved to 10-0 at home.
