CORAOPOLIS, Pa. (AP) -- Monmouth charged out to an 18-4 lead and never trailed on the way to a 67-53 victory over Robert Morris on Saturday night.
Chris Kenny had 18 points and Blake Hamilton contributed 15 for the Hawks (12-10, 11-2 Northeast Conference), who also got 10 points each from Tyler Azzarelli and Dejan Delic.
The Colonials (10-13, 7-6), who lost to Monmouth for the second time in eight days, cut the deficit to seven on two occasions but trailed by as much as 20 points in the second half.
The Hawks, who took sole possession of first place in the Northeast Conference with the win, shot 60 percent from the field and limited Robert Morris to 35 percent.
Chaz McCrommon had 21 points and Tony Lee 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Colonials, who have lost three in a row since a season-high five-game winning streak. Robert Morris converted only 5 of 29 attempts from 3-point range.
