JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (AP) -- James Anthony set a school record with eight 3-pointers and a career-high 30 points as ETSU defeated UNC-Greensboro 105-78 on Saturday.
UNC-Greensboro (13-10, 6-6 Southern Conference) led 1-0 after a free throw by Ronnie Burrell, who had a career-high 33 points.
But ETSU (7-16, 3-10) went on a 13-2 run led by five points by Travis Strong to take a 13-3 lead with 16:48 left.
After the Spartans cut the lead to 19-15, the Buccaneers answered with another 14-2 spurt and scored 45 of the first half's final 59 points to take a 64-29 lead at halftime.
ETSU shot 68 percent (26-of-38) from the field in the first half and went 9-of-13 from 3-point range. The Buccaneers tied a school record with 15 3-pointers in the game.
UNC-Greensboro scored the first 10 points of the second half to cut the lead to 25, but came no closer.
Tim Smith scored 25 points, Strong finished with 18 points and Dillion Sneed grabbed 15 rebounds for ETSU.
The Spartans got 16 points from Ricky Hickman and 12 from Ray Bristow.
