CATONSVILLE, Md. (AP) -- Marcus Barnes scored 22 points, Jose Juan Barea added 21 and Northeastern beat Maryland-Baltimore County 85-55 Saturday for its most lopsided win of the season.
Shawn James had 18 points and seven blocks for the Huskies (15-8, 11-3 America East), who have won two straight and five of six. Bennet James grabbed 10 rebounds.
John Zito led UMBC (9-14, 4-10 America East) with 13 points. Mike Housman added 10 for the Retrievers, who have lost a season-high five straight and fell to 0-5 all-time against Northeastern.
UMBC's starting five contributed only 15 points and the Retrievers shot 23-for-68 (33 percent) from the field in their largest conference loss since joining America East two years ago.
The Huskies' 30-point margin of victory bettered this season's previous high of 20 in an 86-66 win versus Hartford on Wednesday. It was Northeastern's largest scoring differential since a 99-69 victory over Loyola, Md., during the 2002-03 season.
Barnes converted four of the Huskies' seven first-half 3-pointers and Northeastern opened the game on a 17-3 run bookended by Barnes 3s.
UMBC had trouble adjusting to Northeastern's up-tempo offense, committed 12 turnovers in the opening 20 minutes and missed 11 of its first 14 field goal attempts, finishing the half 7-of-31 from the field.
Barea's long right-side 3 with 0.4 seconds left in the first half provided the Huskies a 48-21 halftime lead.
