NORMAL, Ill. (AP) -- Ben Jacobson had 20 points as Northern Iowa edged out Illinois State 65-64 on Saturday.
The Panthers (17-8, 8-6 Missouri Valley) trailed 29-27 at halftime but rallied after the break behind Jacobson's 7-of-14 shooting.
A field goal with 55 seconds left put Northern Iowa ahead for good in a game that saw the lead change 15 times. Erik Crawford had 11 points for the Panthers and Eric Coleman scored 10.
Trey Guidry had 20 points for the Redbirds (16-8, 8-6), while teammate Lorenzo Gordon had 18 points and eight rebounds.
