GRAMBLING, La. (AP) -- With four starters scoring in double digits and dominance on the boards, Grambling State beat the Prairie View A&M Panthers 84-74 on Saturday.
Senior guard Ron Ellis led the Tigers with 17 points on seven-of-eight shooting. But more impressive was his three-of-four from long-range, including a 3-pointer about 13 minutes into the game that gave him his 1,000th career point.
Guards Andre Ratliff and Donte Gordon also scored 17 apiece for the Tigers, and guard Brion Rush had 11. The Tigers (9-10, 6-6 Southwestern Conference) out-rebounded the Panthers 43-28.
Guards Marlon Davis and Phillip Scott led the Panthers (4-16, 4-7 SWAC) with 17 points each. Guard Jared Ellis came off the bench to score 11.
