PINE BLUFF, Ark. (AP) -- Peter Cipriano had 17 points for Southern University to lead the Jaguars to a 1-point, 50-49 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Saturday.
Southern University led by three at the half with a 19-16 score. The Golden Lions came back after the break to outscore the Jaguars 33-31 in the second half, but the 2-point plus wasn't enough for the win.
Nicholas Egland, Chris Alexander and Trayvean Scott all had nine points for Southern University. Jarvis Gunter led Arkansas-Pine Bluff with 12 points.
Shooting was near even during the game, with Arkansas-Pine Bluff going 35.3 percent from the field to Southern University's 35.1 percent. Arkansas Pine-Bluff had 17 turnovers to Southern University's 13, but the Jaguars were able to make 16 points off turnovers while UAPB made 10.
