PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Pat Carroll scored 27 points to lead Saint Joseph's past Temple 69-57 on Saturday at the Palestra.
Carroll hit six 3-pointers and became the school's all-time leading 3-point shooter with 233, breaking the record of 231 previously held by Marvin O'Connor. Carroll was 7 of 11 from the field and 6 of 10 from 3-point territory for Saint Joseph's (12-9, 9-1 Atlantic 10).
Chet Stachitas added 15 points while Dwayne Lee had a career-high 11 assists. Dwayne Jones contributed nine points and 13 rebounds. Mardy Collins led the Owls (11-10, 7-3) with 23 points while Mark Tyndale added 11.
Saint Joseph's led 29-21 at halftime and extended its lead to 51-33 with 9:38 remaining. Temple, which lost its fifth straight game to the Hawks, responded with a 12-2 run to close within 53-45 with 4:42 left.
But two free throws by Carroll and a 3-pointer by Lee pushed Saint Joseph's lead to 58-45 with 3:39 remaining.
Poor shooting plagued Temple throughout the game. The Owls shot 8 of 24 in the first half and missed all seven of their 3-point attempts. Temple missed its first 12 3-pointers before DaShone Kirkendoll connected on back-to-back treys.
Saint Joseph's coach Phil Martelli won his 100th Atlantic 10 regular season game. He is 100-54 overall.
