BOONE, N.C. (AP) -- Nathan Cranford scored 23 points and six of Appalachian State's school-record 16 3-pointers Saturday to lift the Mountaineers past Chattanooga 83-61.
Demetrius Scott and Noah Brown each added 12 points for the Mountaineers (13-9, 7-5 Southern Conference), who hit 16 of 30 shots from behind the arc. Cranford went 6-for-8 from 3-point range, while Brown hit three 3s.
The 16 3-pointers broke the school record of 15, set in a 98-67 win against Millgan on Dec. 18. The school came into the season with two games of 14 3-pointers in school history.
Chris Brown scored 18 points to lead Chattanooga (14-8, 7-5), which has lost four of five.
Appalachian State scored 10 straight points to take a 26-10 lead midway through the first half. Appalachian State led by seven with about eight minutes left, but the Mountaineers sealed it with a 22-2 run that gave them an 81-54 lead late.
The Mountaineers scored 28 points off 26 turnovers by Chattanooga.
